Derm Shield is a latex-free, transparent matte film adhesive bandage. Derm Shield offers maximum breathability and flexibility, providing optimal conditions for flawless, gentle healing and skin renewal. It eliminates scabbing and reduces the risk of scarring, while preventing exposure to bacteria, dirt, and abrasion. Derm Shield is waterproof, but permeable to allow skin perspiration, and it is durable enough to keep up with your everyday activities with a peace of mind and body. Preserving tattoo vibrancy, Derm Shield allows your skin to breathe and heal the right way.
The Derm Shield bandage application should stay in place for 12-24 hours, depending on level of exudation. It is normal for blood and fluids to collect under the bandage. *Remove immediately if the bandage is punctured.
Gently remove the Derm Shield by pulling it slowly from the edge back over itself. Do not pull the bandage upwards. Remove under room temp running water if difficult to remove.
DO NOT re-bandage once you have removed bandage.
Wash tattoo with clean hands using Unscented Soap 2-3x Day.
Take care to remove all traces of blood and plasma as this will cause scabbing.
DO NOT scrub the tattoo with a washcloth/loofa during the healing period.
Pat tattoo dry with clean paper towel
Apply thin layer of Aquaphor or Hustle Butter ointment 2-3x day for the first 5 days, wipe away any excess. The skin should NOT look shiny or wet.
Once you start flaking (around 5 days) use unscented lotion
It is normal to experience a little redness, tenderness, swelling, scabbing, bruising and/or peeling after you get a tattoo. However, if you notice any abnormal or persistent redness or bumps, swelling, or a greenish discharge and odor, please immediately contact your physician as these can be a sign of infection.
DO NOT wear tight, restrictive, or abrasive clothing over the tattooed area. Try to wear a comfortable, loose fitting, and soft material such as cotton.
Dirty sheets, dirty clothes, touching without washing your hands, and animal dander/contact can cause irritation as well as minor to major infections. Try to keep any foreign objects from touching a fresh tattoo.
DO NOT scratch or pick at your tattoo if it itches. Gently pat, or apply lotion.
DO NOT soak in water. No swimming pools, hot tubs, lakes, baths or steam/saunas until it is completely healed.
DO NOT expose your tattoo to direct sunlight or tanning booths for AT LEAST three weeks. After your tattoo is completely healed (approximately 3-4 weeks), use a 30 SPF (or greater) sunblock anytime your tattoo is exposed to direct sunlight. This will keep your tattoo from fading.
